The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley

It's an interesting take on the old legends, but I couldn't finish it (read it in high school). I stopped about 3/4 of the way through. It's obviously a long read, but that wouldn't be so bad if it had more action. There simply isn't enough happening to justify the page count.

Bradley has difficulties writing men, similar to how Philip Roth is often criticized for his writings of women. I think some authors, good though they may be, have trouble getting into the heads of the opposite sex and writing them in such a way that the opposite sex can relate to the characters.
