The Paper Swan by Leylah Attar

5.0

I love this author’s poetic writing so much. This is an utterly heart wrenching and emotional story.
I loved it so much, I was still thinking of the story and characters days later.
Skye and Damien are complex and interesting. They made me feel all the emotions!
It spans from childhood through adulthood and the many characters stories are woven through present time and past/flashback scenes.
It kept me on the edge and my heart begging for mercy.
I felt SO much for the characters.
There’s love of course and hot chemistry with emotions, there’s tragedy, revenge AND there’s shocking twists and turns that are genius in my opinion.
I don’t want to spoil anything, it’s such a unique and beautiful journey.
I am mystified by the authors way of connecting people and events slowly over time and I was left feeling and thinking about it all for days after.
Amazingly unique storytelling! I loved the characters and the journey. The words are simply amazing.

~”It scared me because I saw a glimmer of all the terrifying things we’re capable of, because the human psyche is such a fragile thing, a yolk contained within a brittle shell—one crack and out it spills: a neighbor goes on a suicide mission, tribes massacre tribes, countries turn their faces away from injustices. And it all starts within, because within is where all things begin.~”
