yarnmama10 's review for:
War and Remembrance
by Herman Wouk
This was probably the best historical fiction I have ever read. I was totally drawn into the story and learned much about the period. The characters were well developed. Okay I will admit that it may be a bit contrived that Victor happened to have had actual conversations with all the major leaders of the world including Hitler, Roosevelt, Churchhill and Stalin, but somehow it was convincing. The only thing that was difficult was reading the parts about the atrocities against the Jewish people. I was literally in tears so many times over the unspeakable horror of it all.
I would highly recommend this and the Winds of War that is the introductory book.
