A “wee” criticism, the word wee is used a number of times, by both Solene (who is French/American) and by Hayes (who is British - but for the purposes of what I’m about to say I want to specify that he is English). Wee is a predominantly Scottish word meaning small or little. It’s not a word that I would expect an American or English person to use really, and certainly not to the extent that these two do. It’s also never really used correctly. You wouldn’t just replace the world little with wee in every given scenario. For example: “They were both a wee inebriated” just does not read as correct to me. If a person were to say wee in this sentence they would say “They were both a wee BIT inebriated.” Not a wee inebriated. No-one would say that. Ever. It’s such a small criticism, but it’s something I noticed multiple times and it grated every time. Not just the incorrect use of the word but that it was constantly being said by people who are really unlikely to use that word in general everyday sentences. Anyway, that annoyance aside, I really loved the book, I hated how their story had to end, and I’d like a happy ever after sequel now please. Preferably one omitting the word wee.
