Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

4.25/5 SPOILERS AHEAD!

This was my fav book from the series may be because of mostly dimitri. Him being a strigoi caught my attention. But I also liked Rose's journey through this book. The middle couple chapters are quite boring. I would say the first 30% and the last 40% of the book is a hit except for the middle 30%. Gosh that DRAGS on for forever. The middle 30% feels like 40 chapters. I also wish we had learned Rose's parentage in that middle part so it would atleast have been exciting. Instead it was monotonous and useless. I guess we could learn Rose's state of mind through it but I didn't care for it.

The distance between Lissa and Rose was good thing in my opinion. Them not being in each others business all the time was better for the story. Even though I know Rose was still 'voyeuring' into Lissa's mind, she couldn't interfere and make decisions for her. I like that Lissa got to be independent and make mistakes in this book without both Rose and Christian all up in her business. I do I like Christian and her but I liked her being dumb and foolish here.

As for Rose's journey, it was 8/10 throughout. I only deducted 2 points because she's a hypocritical and a judgemental bitch most times when it comes to her own kind (dhampir women). I know she was brought up in this society and that's just what they're taught but you'd think she would be more forgiving given how Lissa and now Dimitri and next Adrian drink from her. Clearly she's not a holy angel she thinks she is compared to these women.

Rose and Strigoi Dimtri's dynamic was intriguing here. Clearly Rose was insane about him to go through all that she had to endure (ofcourse the vampire endorphins helped). I also really loved the action in this book especially the last 20/25%. It was well done and the ending was stellar. Strigoi dimitri was a great addition and I liked was Richelle Mead did with his character. I'm glad the direction she took him in. It was obvious he wouldn't be an ordinary strigoi. He wasn't by any means an ordinary dhampir.

I likes the addition of Sydney. Also LOVED that Sydney got her own series. I intrigued to read more about her after we first meet her in this book! Especially love that her story is with Adrian. God Adrian deserved better. Again Rose being an absolute hypocritical BITCH! She was so awful to him through out this series. In the second book, this book, and the last two books. He never had a chance with her and she knew it deep down yet she still strung him along for what??!

Overall great book. 4.25/5!
