OKay, I am still so emotional over this book so this probably won't be a very cohesive review because I have so many feels and things I want to say about this book and I don't quite know how to.

This book gave me the biggest Khal Drogo and Khaleesi feels, the characters are almost described exactly the same as the TV characters, so if you've ever wished for a book about their romance with a happy ending, this is for you.

This book follows Circe Quinn as she suddenly wakes up in a pen full of other women who don't speak her language, not knowing where she is or how she got there. From there, she is suddenly thrust into a 'mating game' where she will be chosen by a warrior of Korwahk to be their wife.

The Korwahk are a barbarian nation, ruled by Dax Lahn who chooses Circe Quinn as his wife. It follows their story as Circe becomes Queen and learns how to deal with her new life. Her learning the new culture, language and her place in this new society; while coming to terms with everything she left behind in Seattle.

Circe is a kickass character. She gives everything her all, is fierce but kind-hearted and quickly forges her on position in a land where females don't hold much power. She was an absolute dream to read about, I never got sick of her inner monologue or character. She wasn't perfect in any sense of the world, but you won't find a ditsy or infuriating character in Circe—just a hilarious normal, everyday woman.

Lahn was such a unique character, I had to keep reminding myself that he was a character who was raised in a different belief system than Circe, and that's why they continuously butted heads. On top of being a fearless leader and warrior, he always tried to understand and compromise with Circe. He was also so attractive omg

I absolutely adored this book, I loved the romance, the plot and the relationship BUT I have heard a lot of negative reviews about this series and I understand where they're coming from. This deals with the issue of rape and when I say it mentions it, it is a very prominent theme with many scenes pertaining to rape/scenes of abuse. I think that if this is a sensitive issue for you, or something you will find triggering, then maybe avoid this book.

I don't think this will be the romance story for everybody, it isn't always light and fluffy and with it being set with barbarians, it's gruesome and gory a lot of the time.
