In the House in the Dark of the Woods
by Laird Hunt
Haunting, creepy, weird atmosphere. Yet another colonial/puritan horror to add to my read list. This one is more folklore-based than witchy, which I enjoyed as I've been reading a lotttt of witchy stuff lately, so it was nice to switch it up a little. A lot of reviews called this book "confusing until it's not" which I think is pretty accurate. The main character is a woman who sets of into the woods to collect berries for her husband and child, and doesn't come back for an unknown amount of time due to being waylaid by beings and people in the forest. It's a quick read (214 pages) that kept me thinking all the way through. I liked how it ended. Would recommend!!
