All I Want by Darcey Bell

3.0

Emma and Ben are about to have a baby and decide to purchase a Victorian home in upstate New York so they can move out of the city. The house has a dark history that would scare most people away, but they fall in love with the house anyway.

I wasn’t a fan of Emma or Ben right from the start. Emma was too focused on trying to please Ben so he would love her more, and Ben seemed to care more about his job and the house than he did about Emma and the baby. As you would expect, Emma starts having strange experiences in the house. Emma was made to believe that she was just imagining things due to being pregnant. The answers start to unravel with a good part of the book left. I didn’t like how the last chapters were the characters basically describing what had happened. I like an ending to unravel more naturally. Also, that last chapter left me more confused than anything. I would have liked the book more without the final chapter. However, I enjoyed the creepy atmosphere. This was a quick read (under 300 pages) and I couldn’t wait to get answers to my many questions.
