3.5

I had it at a 3.5 but knocked it down after talking about it with my Bookclub.  The descriptions were amazing and the characters well fleshed out. As a Texan I loved the references and Spainglish. I live in a diff part of the state but still had the overall TX and very Central Texas vibes.

Main issues were sometimes POV was jarring (on audiobook) - and some places 2nd person was used when 1st would have been more impactful. It switched a lot which was fine but sometimes it was for no reason and was a distraction. Pacing was off a lot and made us confused sometimes. Also confusing is when this takes place. It felt like the 90s (especially an adult with the name Yolanda- if you know you know) but then she would Google something? Ending was sort of too tied up in a neat bow for the MC.

Will def be trying more from V. Castro!
