Ada is awesome! She's strong, sassy, and fantastic. Jay is the perfect foil for her because he doesn't let her get away with much but he also supports her.
And seriously, I don't know why anyone would watch the crappy horror movies that are out these days because this book was far scarier than any film I've seen. Halle's descriptions are terrifying. I haven't read much horror since I went through my teenage Stephen King phase, but this book creeped me out just as much as those did. And, as much as I love EIT, I think this book is better than any one book in that series. Yes, I said it. Jayda still have a ways to go before they're as epic as Derry, but the story is scary as shit.
