Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin
4.0

Ayesha At Last makes me smile just thinking about it. This is a romance with both heart and soul. I loved learning more about desi and Muslim culture, especially in the Toronto immigrant enclave this book is set within. Both romantic leads are strong, complex characters that I really enjoyed getting to know. There is also a cast of sweet, funny supporting characters that give this book a definite “comedy of errors” feel. I adore the original P&P so I almost always enjoy a spin-off, and this one was both original and super sweet. This is Jalaluddin’s first novel, which shows in some borderline-clumsy prose (and in Ayesha’s less-than-stellar poetic efforts) but that is overshadowed by the huge heart at the center of this story! I really enjoyed the ride.
