This is a collection of Ozark folktales. All dirty and hugely raunchy, therefore unprintable when they were first collected in the mid-20th century. Some of these were hysterically funny. But I loved the way at the end of each story, there are scholarly notes talking about the origins of that story and related folktales from other cultures - from France, from the Talmud, etc. Amazingly cool stuff, and funny in the dirtiest of ways.
