This is an absolutely gorgeous adaptation of [b:The Giver|3636|The Giver (The Giver, #1)|Lois Lowry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1342493368l/3636._SY75_.jpg|2543234]. I read the original novel a few years ago and loved it. When I saw the graphic novel format at the library, I was very excited to read it. And I was not disappointed.

One of this things I loved about Russell's adaptation is that he stays true to the lack of color within the world but sneaked some blue pencil into the artwork to make them a little more interesting to the reader. The technique really paid off and the illustrations are amazing.

The story sticks closely to the original novel and it was really interesting to see Russell's take on the story.

Beautiful, beautiful book.

I would definitely recommend to those who has read and loved The Giver as well as those who are interested in reading it. I think you can still easily read this if you have not read the original novel. However, the novel is amazing and definitely worth reading.

There are also some interview questions with [a:Lois Lowry|2493|Lois Lowry|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1348162077p2/2493.jpg] and [a:P Craig Russell|17607045|P Craig Russell|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] at the end, which are really interesting.
