They Did Bad Things: A Thriller by Lauren A. Forry
4.0
When you see a book claiming to be in league with Agatha Christie and Knives Out that gets your attention. It’s a big claim. And, for the most part, I think it lives up to the hype. I definitely got a strong dose of nostalgia for all the Agatha Christie I read as a teenager. And like Knives Out, there is a cast full of quite unlikable characters who all have things to hide which keeps you guessing at which of them is actually to blame.
Plenty of twists kept me guessing (incorrectly) until the end. I was 110% invested in this story.
My only pick is that I'm not sure it's even possible to have guessed correctly, which seems like cheating? But with as much as this story is going on, just as easily I could have missed clues. This book is one I’ll definitely have to reread with what I know now.
