📖 Well what a heart warming and funny thrill ride this book was. Such a great book about family and the hardships of being a single mother. Raising a family with no help from the useless no good for nothing baby daddy Cyril. He has fathered five children with four different women and loves his gold jeep more than he does his children.
I loved this book from the start. I really didn't know what to expect as it isn't a book I probably would have chosen to read, but I saw it on the book review show Between the Covers and popping up often on Bookstagram. It really was a joy to read. It has so much culture and life I know nothing of and I was transported into the family and felt as if I was on this rollercoaster ride with all 5 Pennington children.
The catastrophic event that brings all 5 of them back together as adults, after only meeting once as kids was so good. Dimples boyfriend is one of those guys you just love to hate, emotionally abusive and controlling a real treat.
The way Dimples siblings flock to her side in her hour of need filled me with such tenderness and love. This book is fresh and gives you all the feels as well as laughs along the way.
It is narrated by Danielle Vitalis and she is sensational. She gives each family member a real depth of character and brings each one to life in a different way. I would highly recommend giving the audio book version a try as it adds so much more to the already stimulating text. I think my favourite sibling had to be Nikisha she is so brash and takes no nonsense and is the oldest and therefore sees herself as the ringleader, she is just a force to be reckoned with.
Each sibling is so well crafted though it really is something special. I can't recommend it highly enough if you're looking for something new and fresh to read.
