An absolutely fantastic read with amazing, readable prose and stories collected from modern scottish oral performers, i liked it a lot and finished it in just a few days! An issue I often encounter with books of folklore is that, well...no matter when that particular volume was published, a lot of the stories are very similar to when they were first put to paper in English, usually in the 1800s, and can be more than a little difficult to read. Not so here! Allison brings a fresh, modern style to old stories, while still preserving their essence. Highly recommended.
