Gemina by Jay Kristoff, Amie Kaufman

Re-Read from Jan 2021:

Even though certain parts of this creeped me out a little, I like this one a little more than Illuminae. The twists were clever but very cliche. I think the first time around, I liked the play on my emotions this time I almost wished they would’ve left some of it as is. Overall still a really solid sequel. I’m really looking forward to finally reading Obsidio.

Original Review from Aug 2017:

So I didn't want to know much about this book going into it, so I opted not to read the synopsis. After a few pages, I was a bit confused so I read just a little of the synopsis and found that it followed different characters. That had me a little bummed and I was sure their was no way Gemina was going to top Illuminae.

HA HA HA HA!!!!!!

I was WRONG, this book was Awesome!!!

It had so many twists and turns and I felt the audiobook was just as good. This is one heck of a story and I am so glad I jumped on the bandwagon.

Now to be honest I did have a few minor issues with it:
1.) I felt Hanna and Nik were recycled versions of Kady and Ezra. I liked them, however, I just didn't see any big differences in personalities.
2.) Again in the audiobook versions, the male voices for Nik and Jackson sounded, way to old to be playing teenagers. It got to a point where it was a little weird and a bit distracting (in the beginning at least).

I think its pretty cool that Marie Lu, provided the journal illustrations for the book. They were so nice and the journal was a cool addition to the story. I haven't read anything by Marie Lu yet, but I want too. I think its cool that all these authors could work together to create such a great piece of art. I enjoyed this from start to finish and I can't wait for Obsidio!!!!!
