A surreal, dream-like story of detectives (lots of detectives), anarchists, chases, elephants, fear, and one of the most head-scratching endings I've ever read. Did it have a good message? Did it accomplish what the author was gunning for? I don't know: I didn't understand it. If that was the author's intention (it IS subtitled "A Nightmare") then great! he succeeded.
