Down with the System: A Memoir (of Sorts) by Serj Tankian

3.0

This started strong, but Serj got increasingly self-important as the book went on. I was thrown sometimes because on the one hand he takes these bold stances about not working with people who compromise his morals, but then he spends half a chapter complaining about how he didn’t get to work with Mel Gibson on Passion of the Christ. There was also a weird focus on “overpopulation” as a problem without discussing what he actually means by that. Inconsistent Gen X politics abound, but at the end of the day he’s a millionaire (and a pretty self-interested one) so you can only expect so much
