I just want to say that I absolutely love the way V.E. Schwab writes!! This story had me intrigued from the beginning. Not even just me, but also my non-bookish husband. He would ask for updates every day on the story and it was so much fun trying to guess what something might mean. 
There were a lot of things I didn't expect, but in a good way. I'm definitely excited to read the next book in the series! The characters were well established and I felt like I knew who they were. I also was able to picture so well the placement of everything. 
The entire book I was questioning who is the villain and who is the hero, but, honestly, I think that question has no answer. Sometimes those who think they're heros are really the villains, and those that want to be villains end up become heros. It's all in the choices we make. 
There is some cursing in the book and some darker scenes, but overall a clean read. Definitely a Fantasy novel with some superhero vibes thrown in.
