seestephsay 's review for:
Angelfall
by Susan Ee
I started this book this afternoon, and finished it just now. (Only because there were Parent Teacher Conferences, dinner, family, etc) I. Love. Susan. Ee. I personally like not reading a book until all/most of the series has come out JUST IN CASE it's so good that I hate to WAIT for the next one(s). Angelfall is said book. Part of me was hoping that it was a stand-alone novel, so that I wouldn't race to the end and dangle over the cliff (like I just did), desperately waiting for the next installment to come and rescue me.
The book grabs you from the get-go and doesn't let up until you've furiously read it to the end. Then you have that moment when you're clicking/swiping for the next page, and nothing happens. And you're hoping that your Kindle just froze (even though it never does). Aaaand you see the 99% mark, and think, "Nooooooo!" Then, frantically search the Kindle Store for the next book, only to realize....there IS no next book. Find Susan Ee's website, and see no mention of the next novel, save the sidebar where it mockingly states: "Tell me when Book 2 is available! {Enter email address here}" You then resign yourself to waiting, and write a semi-snarky review on Goodreads.
Honestly, this book has been popping up in the recommendations for me on Amazon for a long time. I kept putting it off, then when I found BookLending dot com, I added it as one to borrow, since it's lendable. Some glorious Angel (a-ha - pun intended!) lent it to me there, and I am so grateful to them (and that site) for helping me discover some of my favorite novels I might not have otherwise found (see also: Frost Arch & Flamethroat). I am so glad that I read this book. If you're on the fence, go for it. I'm going to go buy my own copy now. :D
