jostensneil 's review for:
Little Women
by Louisa May Alcott
book 2 of the rory gilmore book club with irls!
3.5
pray that louisa may alcott's spirit will forgive me for this but i am a Little Women (2019) stan.
listen... i know. i watched the movie first and usually when i do that reading the book is kind of a chore. and although i love the march sisters and the characters and the story as a whole, it took me over a month to get through it and i felt sleepy several times. BUT in my defense i am also in a reading slump so that definitely plays a big part in my difficulty getting through this.
i finished this about 2 hours ago and, in fact, i rewatched the 2019 adaptation and GOD from the jump it felt so good to see it again!!! it was actually really good to 1) find some of the details i'd missed the first 2 times & compare some aspects to how it went in the book and 2) knowing the full backstory around some scenes and, again, compare it to the book. i love the photography, the actors, some of the changes that greta made (Women–)... but of course, it all came from this book and overall i am glad to have read it! can't promise a reread tho
