The Woman With the Cure by Lynn Cullen

5.0

What a remarkable story about Dr. Dorothy Horstmann and her relentless search for a cure / vaccine for polio. Without her findings that poliovirus was found in the blood and that was how it got from the gut to the nerves cells and paralyzed people - we wouldn’t have a vaccine.

The book also mentions other women in the development - Isabel Morgan, Elsie Ward, Bernice Eddy, Sister Elizabeth Kenny, Barbara Johnson, and Eleanor Abbott.
