Earwig and the Witch by Diana Wynne Jones
4.0
A cute little story about a cheeky girl called Earwig and a witch. I love the quirky illustrations, some were presented full-page, others (like little spiders and ravens) were used as decorations for chapter titles and page numbers.
I loved the Mandrake, he did appear to be scary but I also felt there was something trustworthy about him. I just wish the note from Earwig's mom had played a bigger role, there was no resolution to it. The story could've used some fattening but then again it's probably supposed to be a very simple children's book.
It's a very quick read because the font is huge, so give it a go if you want a small break from every day life.
