No One Is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood
2.0

This book was just not good, in my opinion. Part one was terrible, full of inane, meandering drivel, and part two was marginally better, but by that point I didn't really care about anything that was happening because part one was so bad.

Part one is like Tumblr and Twitter had a baby. It's like all that poetry that I just don't get (think Rupi Kaur or Amanda Lovelace). This book is just not for me and that's okay. I'm sure there's plenty of people who like that kind of poetry, who live their lives on Twitter and get the jokes and memes and references in this book. But I didn't. And even if I had, what's the point other than to say 'the internet is a thing and it sounds like this'. Part two goes off on a tangent and gives the narrator/main character something to focus on other than her inane tweets that mean nothing to anyone but her. I think I'm too old for this book (except the author is apparently older than me, so what does that say about me...).

Would not recommend this at all. Completely pointless book, that absolutely drags in the first half and I only finished through sheer force of will. What a waste of my time.
