❝ Whether the universe could just be me and him, understanding each other on a forever loop ❞

This Ali Hazelwood book lacked a lot for me, as an avid fan from her Ao3 days, I was left a little disappointed.

As a fan of The Queen's Gambit, I was looking forward to reading a chess romance, I was also reao excited for Ali writing a non-STEM themed book, however it just fell flat for me.
Books having modern day references just don't work for me and prevents immersion for me, however I do understand it is a modern day romance so references are bound to occur however this one felt overdone.

However the FMC was really relatable, even with her disatorous choices and dialogue, she made so many sacrifices and did not deserve her family at all.
The MMC was an enjoyable character and I really think he is one of my favourites that Ali has written, it was nice to see a MMC with more character and personality.
Plus I really liked the romance and dynamic the main characters had with each other.

Overall it was a fun read and I really enjoyed learning more about chess and the dynamics however it just didn't hit for me like her previous books have.
