Where They Last Saw Her by Marcie R. Rendon
4.0

I really enjoyed this story so much, as heartbreaking of a story as it is.

The writing style was very different than what I normally get into and I can see why it isn’t for everyone, you’ll also likely guess the plot twist pretty quickly, however I beg of and implore you to stick with the story for the deeper message within.

This meant simply a mystery surrounding the various women in and around Red Pine Reservation but a call to understanding that Native women, girls, and yes even boys are going missing at alarming rates and have for many hundreds of years.

We need to ask why this is being allowed to happen and grasp that something needs to be healed and shored up when it comes to the fight over jurisdiction between Tribal police, local, and federal agents particularly when it involves missing Natives.

This isn’t simply a store but another cry for people to care and through their voices behind the issue; to raise awareness and do something to stop the human trafficking that is quite literally happening in front of our eyes without a second thought.

Oh this one will stay with me. My heart, tears and soul go out to every single family who has lost a loved one in these horrific ways. Even IF they’re found alive, their souls are forever altered in ways that nobody deserves.

Go into this novel with an open heart and with understanding. If you are receptive to the underlying message, you will not be the same after reading it.
