I had heard great things about this novella, and it did not disappoint. Murderbot is an engaging and intriguing character, somewhere between human and machine, but leaning toward the latter and trying to find his way in a world that is uncomfortable and alien to him. Despite his (self-given) name, he is not unlikable or difficult to root for. His moral compass sways a little over the course of the book, but generally stays pointing true north. It's the possibility of things going south that keeps things interesting. This is a quick read, and not just because of it short page count. The action and intrigue will keep you turning the pages to find out what is in store for Murderbot. And you will no doubt be hungry for the other three volumes in this series. I know I am.
