An Unwanted Guest
by Shari Lapena
I have read, counting this one, three book from Shari Lapena and I have not been disappointed yet. I love her writing style. This one in particular, it was not what I was expecting (and I guess that can be good). There is multiple point of views, literally from every character in the story, but it wasn’t confusing at all and most importantly it doesn’t give you any clues on who is the killer. I had my suspicions, but I was never sure of what was going to happen. See, I have a gift (LOL)… Most of the time I can predict what is going to happen in a movie or in a book, but with An Unwanted Guest (and also The Turn of the Key) I could not figure it put for the life of me. The way everything unraveled at the end, I found that it happened way to fast and I didn’t get any closure from the other characters, only the killer. (Is that the whole point of a mystery??? Because it’s freaking annoying!!!) The last 15 to 10 pages basically tells you what happened and boom, THE END. I wanted more, damn it!!! Anyway, it was very entertaining reading it and I suggest you pick it up if you haven’t yet. It is the perfect book for these chilly nights that we’re having.
