The 57 Bus: A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater

challenging emotional informative slow-paced

3.5

I remember when this case first happened. I think the book did a good job of giving a full background of the people involved, how differing paths led them to where they intersected, the ways that horrible crimes can come from one single stupid decision. Also the way that the "justice" system can work against young black men and away from the idea of rehabilitation. I liked learning the details of the case, and the opinions of both families, since it wasn't really reported much at the time. I am glad to hear that Sasha went on to make a full recovery without any trauma associated with the event.
