Really fascinating story from a perspective that we don't often hear about. Growing up as a survivalist Mormon and not going to school until 17 years old then going on to earn an Ivy League PHD. Wow.

Written as a "confessional" style book, I went down a rabbit hole with this one. Looking into all of her family members, her mom's oil business, photos of her dad, her brother "Shawn" etc. Her mom wrote a book called Educating, apparently trying to clap back at Tara's claims, but based on the goodread reviews, it's a streaming pile of crap and lies. Will skip.

About 2 hours too long, I made a big push to finish this one. Wouldn't recommend to everyone, but if the synopsis grabs your attention, I say give it a read. Really interesting, especially as someone who grew up in a "mainstream" Mormon family, even bordering on "gentile."
