Wood Riddance by Daphne Elliot
4.5

A book starring a lumberjack Viking pilot single dad? It's like Daphne wrote this just for me! Finn Hebert comes from the enemy camp in Adele Gagnon's eyes - rival timber company family, and a father who took down her own. Not that Finn had anything to do with that, but for the longest time, it's hard for Adele to separate the two.

Adele is this strong, determined woman in charge of the mechanic shop for her family timber company. Meanwhile Finn has moved back to Lovewell, Maine after finishing up his time in the Navy, determined to provide a good life for his ten-year-old daughter, Merry. She is the cutest, though even she isn't safe from the small town gossip about her grandfather's misdeeds.

Needless to say, the attraction between Finn and Adele is quite forbidden, and Adele struggles internally with the fact that she could see the enemy as anything but. It's made especially hard when Finn takes a job with the Gagnon timber company as a pilot. There is so much shared history and tragedy between the two families, but Finn is determined to wear her down. The tension between these two is so good, resulting in some fun and spicy scenes...and games.

Finn's relationship with his daughter melted my heart. He is such a good dad. Of course, no Lovewell novel is complete without Clive the moose causing at least a bit of chaos.

I love this story. I love the Gagnons and all of the women who have joined the family in previous novels. And now, Daphne has me falling in love with the Hebert men. Jude, I'm looking at you. I really hope we get to see more of them in the future!

Thank you so much to Daphne for an ARC!
