This book, in terms of rating, was the most confusing of the series so far. For the first half or so of the book, I was prepared to laud this addition with my previous favorite of the Bridgerton series (Benedict’s book). But then somewhere between 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through, the two main characters got together and completely changed. Michael went from a sympathetic and interesting love interest to an off putting character that actively wanted to trick the woman he loved into marriage, and couldn’t take no for an answer. I’ve read 5 other Bridgerton books, I should be used to the dubious consent, but this one felt like a particularly hard pill to swallow, as I had actually liked the characters and their chemistry before this.
