Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter

dark sad tense

4.5

*please research this book if you require trigger warnings. it is a brutal read with intensely difficult subject matter.*
Let me start this by saying, I am worried about Karin Slaughter because how in all the gods does she sleep at night when this is the shit that swirls around in her head? It should also be stated that she knows how to write the hell out of a thriller/crime. This was a buddy read with my sister @jthebookblog. Our texts were completely and utterly unhinged. As were our phone calls and facetimes. This was such a crazy ride, I hardly even know what to say. I can’t say I’ll look back on this with fondness, but I certainly will remember it.
My personal thoughts: I’m a crime girlie - was watching Law and Order SVU long before I probably should have been. I thrive on figuring out whodunit. This book was no exception, however, I do think that the twist was done pretty well. The psychological torture is what really makes this book brutal. I mean, of course, the SA is tragic and horrific. But it’s the mindf*ck of it all that will stick with me. I don’t care what anyone says, I’m riding hard for Sarah, she is a badass. I finished this guy and jumped right into the next one.
*my one single complaint -which does not detract from this book. I accidently read most of the abridged version first before we realized that I was missing SO much information. Like imperative information. I’m so glad I went back and decided to start over with the full length novel. Otherwise the rating on this would be much different. My advice? DO NOT read the abridge (listen) version.
