You can tell this was written in the 40s as the stereotypes, household hierarchy, word usage, and the fact the parents unquestioning follow the advice of a woman without children of her own. This is a cute fantasy, but the dated-ness does ruin it a bit for me. I love Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle herself, though.
