mirabilia 's review for:
The Centre
by Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi
The reviews (especially the Guardian one) led me to believe that this was a book about language learning and how being granted perfect fluency in no time at all might affect a learner, but the novel only ever skirted these issues. Meanwhile, it managed to be angry and preachy about every conceivable problem with the possible exception of cats. I‘ll give it one star for keeping me sufficiently interested to read to the end, but really, this isn’t a good book at all.
