I’ll be honest, while I did like this book, I thought I was going to enjoy it more than I did. There were sections that I loved, but there were also some chapters that I did not enjoy as much, and as they are between the chapters I liked this slowed my reading a little as I was not wanting to read those chapters when I got to them. I really liked the parts told from Silas’s perspective, but the chapters which were from/about the perspective of some of the others characters were not my favourite. I do see why these chapters were included (well, some more than others), but I do think I would have enjoyed the story more without some of them. Part of my disappointment in reading this was definitely my expectations going into it as I thought it would be a new favourite, but I still look forward to trying more of George Eliot’s work in the future.
