"Nothing to lose, everything to gain." Pardon me while I swoon away over these two for a very long time. Isaac and Tyler need to be protected at all costs.
Well, Rebecca Rathe does it again. Every. Single. Book. is amazing. The grit and heart and feelings that she can evoke ... just gahhhhh!! Clearly no different here.
Isaac comes from very little. Caregiver for his mom and sister, his childhood and teen years were very different than most other kids. Now, he's trying to make his way and build his dream, renovating a building to become an MMA gym. His struggles are abundant, but he has found good friends and has a supportive family to help keep him going - emotionally anyway. And the cute guy that he sometimes sees at the coffee shop gives him a little spark.
Tyler comes from money. His domineering father has plans for him, but those plans are not what Tyler wants for his life. He's hanging on by a thread, trying to live in the box that his father put him in, yet trying to negotiate and make his own way. When a date that his father pushes on him goes incredibly wrong, Tyler is left battered and broken.
These two are thrown together well beyond quick, flirty glances and awkward smiles. As a natural caregiver, Isaac is drawn to Tyler and wants him to see how beautiful and worthy he is, inside and out. Tyler feels the same about Isaac and is immediately drawn to this big, tattooed, gorgeous man's world.
Their fight for trust, strength and love is so heartwarming and sweet. I felt every feel in this book and them. It's just so good.
