The Player by K. Bromberg
5.0

The Player is K. Bromberg's new masterpiece. I've read the Driven series and a few other books by Kristy, and The Player is one of my favorites! I'm a huge sports romance fan and this book has so much baseball heart and these characters have such love for America's favorite pastime. The writing is fantastic, the characters well developed and the story is great. It's not your typical spoiled ball player/rehab therapist. Not even close. Easton is baseball royalty and he's cocky and confident, but he has every right to be. But, he's out of the game with an injury and when he's expecting Doc, he gets Doc's daughter Scout instead. A sexy, athletic, feisty PT. He quickly learns she can handle herself in and out of the locker room. Scout isn't immune to Easton's charm, but she has a job to do and it's not sleep with the player. She has to remind herself to not get attached, but when she spends hours a day with him and learns more about him, her defenses are weakened. Easton is working extremely hard to get his shoulder better and get back out onto the field. After spending time with Scout, he's determined to be more than just the player to her. He's never wanted a woman the way he wants her. She's perfect for him and not just because she gets him. She gets why he loves the game. She gets why he pushes himself. And she gets why it matters so much. Will Easton wear down Scouts walls and convince her there's more to them than just player and physical therapist? Will Scout be able to put her fears aside and let Easton show her what it's like to be cared for? I loved this story! So much. It's deep and emotional. Easton and Scout both have similar past situations and they have their reasons for the walls they've erected. But they also know when something worth fighting for shows up. I loved their banter about baseball. The innuendos were top notch! I laughed, cried, got mad, swooned and literally yelled at the end! I'm not sure how patient I can be waiting for The Catch!

It’s intoxicating. It’s unexpected. It’s everything in a kiss I never knew I needed, and yet somehow knew was missing.

“We’ll start working our way to first base, and then, depending on how you’re feeling, we can move onto second.”

“Nice. You get to run in front next time so I can watch your ass, then.” I laugh.
“Mine?”
“In baseball pants. That’s a requirement,”
