I was entranced and could not put this down. I loved the twists (even though I guessed almost all of them) and I loved the characters.

The writing, the pacing and storytelling was such a fun ride. I haven’t enjoyed a story like this in a while and I am kicking myself for not starting this series sooner. I need more.

I do know this will not be the book for everyone. This is primarily a political-dystopian novel before it is a fantasy or a romance novel. Is there romance? Yes. Is it cute? Also yes. Will it be good enough for the average romance reader? Probably not… simply because this is not going to be your typical slowburn love story.

However, does that take away from the story or the romance? Absolutely not. It has its own spin. The description claims it’s like a Robin Hood retelling and although I can see some similarities I’d argue it is mostly not. It’s very much a political dystopian novel with some Persona-like spunk (if you’ve played those games) and maybe a few other themes thrown in. There are a lot of issues our main characters are facing with no definitive answer and it makes their path all the more challenging and intriguing.

My only real issue was the ending just felt very sudden and cut off. I understand it was to lead up to the next novel but it felt like an awkward point to cut off on. I would almost rather a cliffhanger in exchange (I will regret these words later guaranteed).
