Starter Villain by John Scalzi

5.0

If it isn’t already labeled, this was a great surprise murder mystery. It was short and sweet, filled with impossible talking animals, amazing banter, hilarious inner dialogue and of course, villainy. Loved how the eventual story unfolded with a long game plot, triple agent (double-double agent?), smart boss lady, practical spy cats and obnoxious cetaceans.

The main character was like-able and with just enough of a backstory to understand his motives and accept that his reactions were believable given the impossible situation. I applaud you once again John Scalzi.
