This would be such a beautiful gay love story if it weren't written in Victorian times where homosexuality didn't exist (sarcasm). I mean, Robert Audley still gets his gay cottagecore life in the end, but there's some very forced heterosexual marriage in the mix just because that's how these types of moral stories are supposed to end.
A good read overall. It flows well and although the reader is pretty sure they know Lady Audley's Secret early on, there's still enough doubt and intrigue to keep the story interesting.
