This is very angst-heavy and Christmas-light for a Christmas book. Charlie's sister had leukaemia and he has this fear that if he doesn't get home for Christmas his sister will die. Meanwhile Gavin is gay but he tried to tell his dad that a year to two ago and his dad basically just said "lol no you're not" and so Gavin dated a girl until she basically went "babe are you sure you're not gay?" so he has to come out to his parents in this book and it goes awfully.
