The Plantagenets: The Warrior Kings and Queens Who Made England by Dan Jones

4.0

I felt like it wouldn’t be honest to give 4 stars because this book was not about the Plantagenet queens. They were only mentioned in passing 90% of the time. The only one that the author went into any detail on was Isabelle (spelling?) because she helped usurp her husband. I KNOW the queens were doing more than sitting around punching out babies. If you want to write a book about just kings, at least be honest about it. Don’t try to make it sound inclusive by throwing the word queens in the title.
Aside from that, this was a well written book. I’ve consumed literature and documentaries about this dynasty in the past, so most of the information wasn’t new. I did enjoy a new perspective on Thomas Beckett though. He gets a lot of credit when he basically turned into an insane cultist. Not that any of the kings were good people, but like… Beckett sucked.
