The Silver Eyes
by Kira Breed-Wrisley, Scott Cawthon
FNAF is one of my favorite game series and I was excited when I found out about a book that expands on the lore behind the game. I’ve owned it for a while and just got around to reading it. I have to say that I loved the book. It seriously expands on the backstory behind the game and fleshes out the series wonderfully. I’m one of the people that are fascinated with the lore behind FNAF and I loved that this answered some of my questions behind the game.
With that being said there are some flaws to the book. The characters can be phenomenally stupid. They don’t make the brightest decisions for the first half of the book. The story proceeds at a crawl. I don’t mind slow stories but this takes the longest time to build up. Some of the dialogue doesn’t really have the proper flow of conversation. I stopped at several points in the book with the thought that real people would never talk like this.
The action really does pick up for the second half of the book. There are points that are genuinely terrifying. If you are reading this to expand upon the lore of the series this is the book for you. It goes into a lot of depth about the history of the restaurants and the horrible things that happened at them. If you’re looking for nonstop animatronic action this is not the book for you. If you’re a fan of the game series I recommend reading this. It’s a slow burn but totally worth it in the end.
