Twelve Days in December by Michele Paige Holmes

5.0

I absolutely loved this book! I haven't read the first two in this series but I have read #3 which comes before this so of course I requested to review this one as well since it continues with the storyline. And I loved it!!

Charlotte is such a dear and likeable character, I like her even more than Marsali! Although I wasn't sure how I felt about William in the third book, I did grow to like him in this one. I feel that Charlotte's widowed past really brought a lot of depth and feeling to the story which just made it so much more endearing to read. I loved Charlotte's and Alec's interactions and reading how William connected with them. I loved these characters so much!

The plot ran well and I had difficulties putting it down. Since it's a novella, it was a quick, easy read, but had plenty of emotionality behind each chapter which brought so much more depth to it than you would expect from a novella. I love that Holmes did a recap of what happened in the ending of the third book so that past readers could remember the events. Even if you haven't read the previous books, I would still recommend checking this out, although I'm positive I got so much enjoyment out of this because I'd read the previous one and I already had a connection to the story.

I have yet to be disappointed by anything that Holmes has written. She's a perfect author if you're looking for well-written, clean historical romance. So glad to have discovered her works.

Likes: Charlotte is such a sweet character. Plenty of depth and feeling to it although it's just a novella. Plot ran interestingly and was difficult to put down. Well-written, easy, quick read.

Dislikes: None!
