I was introduced to Jason Reynolds earlier this year through "Look Both Ways" and I instantly fell in love with his writing style and the rich characters who inhabit his stories. So when I needed a quick listen between books, I knew who my go-to guy would be.
"Ghost," the first book of the "Run" series, did not disappoint one bit. The kids crackled with energy and suprising depth and I just loved the supportive adults that lift these young athletes up. (Every kid needs a Coach in their life.)
Also, I adore this narrator! They truly convey the emotional swings of a middle schooler and I could feel my heart swell with laughter and drop in despair right along with Ghost as he told his story.
Just like of the Defenders at the starting block, I'm locked in. You can bet I'm listening to all of these!
