Ummm…am I an Angela Carter stan now? Seriously I cannot believe how good this collection was. I usually struggle with short story collections, but every story was so engaging and sucked me right in. The fairytale retellings in this book are dark and gothic; at times deliciously dirty and at others completely shocking. My favorites had to be The Bloody Chamber, The Tiger’s Bride, and Puss-in-Boots. The Erl-King was so atmospheric and vibey. I will absolutely be reading more by Carter in the future.
