Civil Disobedience, and Other Essays by Henry David Thoreau

challenging slow-paced

1.25

A book of repetitive, grumpy essays that were hardly transcendental by today's standards. They included some good anti-capitalist and anti-slavery rhetoric and viewpoints, which I appreciated, but they were not very dynamic pieces to read. Walking was the standout essay, though it was far too long, for its personal vulnerability ties most directly to his value system.
