I had no idea this book would go in the directions it did as I really did not know anything at all when I decided to read it. There were some predictably developments but I was amazed by the philosophical nature and symbolism within the book, as well as how many loose ends were tied up (which is an issue I find many similar books miss). Not a 5 star because there were indeed still some things I felt needed more information surrounding characters like Kate, Raymond and Eaton about their lives between childhood and adulthood, as well as why certain things in particular happened to these characters the way they did. I am very glad to have read this though- defined captivating and beautifully written.
